My name is Sarah and I have over 30 years’ experience of working in child care and education. I started as a nursery assistant and worked myself up to a Nursery Supervisor before becoming a teaching assistant in a local school for the last eight years.
I am passionate about children learning in a way that compliments them. The onus of my activities is FUN so that they are memorable and easy to recall. I pride myself on tapping in to the child’s interests to help them learn effectively.
We are relatively new to home ed. When Mrs Bones started her new venture I knew that I would end up using her services due to her care and background knowledge of my son who has ASD and struggles with conventional teaching methods. Mrs Bones puts lots of thought and time into planning his Maths sessions – particularly around his special interests making Maths fun and engaging.
Plus I love seeing her too!!

Why choose Mrs B’s Pick n’ Mix Tutoring?
After Covid, I was involved in offering “catch up” training for children that needed to close some of the gaps in their education. I undertook a course in tutoring that enabled me to do this. My expertise is in education up to eight years old, so I absolutely loved this and came up with ideas to help the children bridge those all-important gaps- and succeeded.
I can’t recommend Sarah enough, my daughter looks forward to the tutoring sessions and always enjoys them. The sessions are fun and engaging using multiple resources which makes it all the more fun. Learning isn’t a chore, it’s fun and engaging.
When funding was withdrawn, two parents approached me about privately tutoring their child with the onus on times tables, spelling, letter formation, handwriting and reading comprehension. I jumped at the chance and have been tutoring these two children for over a year now. I have recently been asked to tutor another child so now tutor three different children over three days of the week.
Sarah uses such fun games and activities that even my daughter can’t wait to see what fun ideas she’s come up with. I get weekly updates on what my daughter has been doing and this really helps me to understand what she is doing.

I have got to that time in my life where term time working isn’t as flexible as I would like so have made the decision to set up my own tutoring business on the back of the reviews and feedback I have received from previous parents.
Sarah Bones is truly fantastic at what she does.
She now looks after both my children, often both of them say it’s been the highlight of their day!
My eldest was diagnosed with dyslexia and since then Sarah has got them back on track and some!
They both really enjoy their extra lessons with her
She has a brilliant way of making learning fun for them. I’d fully recommend as I already have to family and friends.

I think going back to basics is important in a way that does not undermine the child’s learning and I have an abundance of resources to help children reach their learning goals whether it be number bonds, times tables, writing letters correctly, learning their weekly spelling words or helping them with reading.
Mrs Bones is the absolute best. I love her. She really funny and fun. Need I say more?!

I am happy to be led by the parent because they know their child best and they will hopefully know from their child’s teacher where the gaps are.
